Basketball League
Information
The following is general
information, rules and team registration packet for the
Winter/Spring 2008 3-on-3 Basketball League. This packet must be read and filled out
completely before any team is accepted into the league. We reserve
the right to cancel the league if we do not get a minimum of 6 teams
signed up.
League will be on Monday evenings beginning March 3 2008 and
ending May 5, 2008. With playoffs following on
May 12, 2008. The top 8 teams will qualify for playoffs.
Games will start at 7:00 PM (depending on the number of teams, we
may start at 6:30). It is the captain’s responsibility
to make sure each person on the team has a copy of this packet.
Teams will consist of a total roster of 6 players. A team may have a
sub that may be used for a maximum of 2 weeks in the regular season
without fee, but that player will not be eligible for playoffs
without paying the fee. He also must be written on the team’s roster
at the beginning of the season. A player must be on the team’s
initial roster and have played in the regular season to be eligible
for playoffs. Teams have 2 weeks of regular season to finalize their
team rosters. After that there are no exceptions to the rule.
There is no hanging from the rim. You will be given one warning and
then disqualified after that. The league coordinator holds the right
to suspend players for offensive, dangerous or destructive behavior.
There will be prizes handed out to the two teams who reach the
championship game. Team captains will receive the winnings and
it is their responsibility to hand out prizes to their teammates.
Please have all paper work filled out and turned in by February 25,
2008.
FEES MUST BE PAID ON OR BEFORE MARCH 3, 2008 IF FEES ARE NOT
PAID, 1ST GAME WILL BE FORFEITED.
*Money will be refunded only if we do not have six teams to play
Due to conflicts in the prior league formerly unwritten ground-rules
are clarified below.
- 12 Minute halves
- 3 minute breaks
- Jump-ball goes to the offense
- A delay of game penalty: Will
be called if a player is fouled at the end of the half or if an
obvious attempt is made to prevent a team from getting a final
possession. (i.e. a player chucks the ball across the court for
no apparent reason) If this rule is enforced the team who is
denied a final possession or is fouled will be able to check the
ball at the top of the key and have 10 seconds added to the
clock for a final possession.
- Teams with non-roster players
will be forced to forfeit
- A team with two attending
players may be allowed to play 2-on-2 only if the opposing
team’s captain agrees; otherwise they must play 2-on-3 or
forfeit
- All disputes are expected to
be handled arbitrarily between team captains. Only when an
agreement cannot be made will the league coordinator or acting
league coordinator step in to settle the dispute.
- Absolutely no undercutting or
intentional elbowing. The league coordinators right to
suspension will be used in cases involving these acts.
