Fit Choices FAQs

Who is eligible for the Fit Choices program?
Any Medica fully-insured member is eligible for the program.  Select self-insured members are also eligible if their employer has purchased the program. Members must be at least 18 years old to be eligible.

However, eligibility should always be verified with the member’s ID card compared to the current Medica eligibility file.  If group number is not listed, please refer them to Medica Customer Service (customer service numbers are on Medica ID card).

How much is the monthly credit?
$20 for each health club membership

How many times does the member have to work out to get the monthly credit?
8 or more days during the month.

Can a couple or family membership get more than one credit?
No.  Only one $20 credit will be awarded to each membership type.  For couple or family memberships at least one person (over the age of 18) on the membership must exercise 8 or more times.  This can not be a cumulative number.

When will the member see their first credit?
The first credit will be issued two months after they register if they reach the utilization goal.  Example: If member enrolls in March and reaches utilization goal, their payment will be processed in April and credited in May.

What happens if a member does not reach the utilization goal?
They will not receive the credit for that month.  They are still eligible to try for the next month.

Can a member work out twice in one day?
No.

If two people have a couples membership and only one of them is insured with Medica can both of their monthly utilization qualify for the credit?
No.  Only people who are covered under Medica insurance (have a Medica ID card) can qualify towards the credit.  If two people are on a couples membership and only one of them has Medica insurance, only this person’s utilization can qualify for the monthly credit.  The member must be 18 years of age or older to qualify for the credit.

If a married couple on the same plan wants to purchase single memberships will they both get $20?
Yes.  This is the member’s choice.  However with two single memberships, both members must utilize the facility 8 or more days in the month to both receive the credit.
